Asymmetric directed graph coloring games

چکیده

This note generalizes the (a, b)-coloring game and the (a, b)-marking game which were introduced by Kierstead [7] for undirected graphs to directed graphs. We prove that the (a, b)-chromatic and (a, b)-coloring number for the class of orientations of forests is b + 2 if b ≤ a, and infinity otherwise. From these results we deduce upper bounds for the (a, b)-coloring number of oriented outerplanar graphs and of orientations of graphs embeddable in a surface with bounded girth.

Asymmetric graph coloring games

We introduce the (a; b)-coloring game, an asymmetric version of the coloring game played by two players Alice and Bob on a finite graph, which differs from the standard version in that, in each turn, Alice colors a vertices and Bob colors b vertices. We also introduce a related game, the (a; b)-marking game. We analyze these games and determine the (a; b)chromatic numbers and (a;b)-coloring num...

Submodularity of Some Classes of Combinatorial Optimization Games

Some situations concerning cost allocation are formulated as combinatorial optimization games. We consider a minimum coloring game and a minimum vertex cover game. For a minimum coloring game, Deng{Ibaraki{Nagamochi 1] showed that deciding the core nonemptiness of a given minimum coloring game is NP-complete, which implies that a good characterization of balanced minimum coloring games is unlik...

An alternative proof for the constructive Asymmetric Lovász Local Lemma

We provide an alternative constructive proof of the Asymmetric Lovász Local Lemma. Our proof uses the classic algorithmic framework of Moser and the analysis introduced by Giotis, Kirousis, Psaromiligkos, and Thilikos in " On the algorithmic Lovász Local Lemma and acyclic edge coloring " , combined with the work of Bender and Richmond on the multivariable Lagrange Inversion formula.

The Asymmetric coloring game

The coloring game is a two player game played on a finite graph G, Using a set S of colors. The two players, Alice and Bob, take turns coloring the vertices of G with colors from S so that no two adjacent vertices have the same color. Alice plays first. Alice wins if G is colored after |V (G)| turns. Bob wins if an impass is reached at some point of the game. The game chromatic number of G, den...

Game Colouring Directed Graphs

In this paper, a colouring game and two versions of marking games (the weak and the strong) on digraphs are studied. We introduce the weak game chromatic number χwg(D) and the weak game colouring number wgcol(D) of digraphs D. It is proved that if D is an oriented planar graph, then χwg(D) 6 wgcol(D) 6 9, and if D is an oriented outerplanar graph, then χwg(D) 6 wgcol(D) 6 4. Then we study the s...
